About this cartoon: Israel passed a nationalistic "nation-state" law (also called the "Basic Law") that reiterated Israel as a Jewish state and Hebrew as the official language. Since these things were long-ago established truths, the only point of the exercise was to appease Israel's far right while insulting the sizeable Arab minority and marginalizing non-Orthodox streams of Judaism in deference to rabbinic authority.
